Outstanding Service Award
This award recognizes individuals for the demonstrated impact of their outstanding leadership, commitment, and service to university continuing education in Canada. Up to 4 awards per year will be granted. The following criteria must be met:
- The nominee must be a SASCF member.
- A minimum of 10 years contributing to university continuing education at the local, regional and/or national levels. Contributions may be in one or more areas of continuing education including leadership, teaching and learning, program development, online and distance education, marketing, administration, research and student support.
Nominations must be from a dean or director on behalf of their staff and shall include biographical data and an outline of the nominee’s contribution to university continuing education in Canada. The CAUCE Executive will decide on an appropriate recipient at its February meeting and advise both the nominee and the nominator shortly afterward. The award is presented at the annual conference.
Award of Recognition
This award was established in 1987 to recognize contributions of those not professionally employed in adult and continuing education in Canada at one of our member institutions. The following criteria must be met:
- Nominations are open to non-members employed in areas other than University Continuing Education
- Evidence of demonstrable, sustained and significant contribution to university continuing education such as a major role in communication and championing university continuing education in society; furnishing substantial support and resources to university continuing education projects with national impact; a leadership role in adult education causes; a role in policy or decision-making with significant national impact on university continuing education; a truly exemplary role in developing recognition of the importance of university continuing education within the university community.
- Within our membership categories, only institutional members may submit a nomination.
Nominations shall include biographical data and an outline of the nominee’s contribution to continuing education in Canada. Each nomination shall be supported by at least two letters of recommendation from individuals who are in positions to verify the nominees’ actions that address the award’s criteria. The CAUCE Executive will decide on an appropriate recipient at its February meeting and advise both the nominee and the nominator shortly afterward. The award is presented at the annual conference.
Honorary Membership
This honor is generally awarded at the conclusion of an individual’s career in University Continuing Education and is intended for those who have served the objectives of CAUCE in outstanding fashion. Previous decisions regarding Honorary Membership have tended to interpret contribution or service in the light of national or regional impact and not solely based on local accomplishments. The following criteria must be met:
- The nominee must be a CAUCE member at the completion of their career in University Continuing Education (at the time of retirement).
- Proven service and leadership within the association for at least 10 years.
- Contributions that are national or regional in scope.
Nominations for honorary membership shall include biographical data and an outline of the nominee’s contribution to continuing education generally and to the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education more specifically. Each nomination shall be supported by at least two letters of recommendation from individuals who are in positions to verify the nominees’ actions that address the award’s criteria. The SASCF Executive will decide on an appropriate recipient(s) at its February meeting and will advise both the nominee and nominator shortly thereafter. The award is presented at the annual conference.
